National Sister Gloria Wells KK4DXM

Gloria Wells-KK4DXM of Homosassa, Florida has only been a ham since August (2011) but she is already mentoring her sister, who is working to get a Technician Class license. Gloria says that she has had a life long interest in Amateur Radio, but, "the code gave me problems early in life."
Gloria retired from the United States Navy where she worked in the health field. She went on to complete her education in electronics. She put this education to good use for 19 years in her second career as an electronics technician for the United States Postal Service.
Although new to Amateur Radio Gloria is already involved in public service through her membership in ARES and CERT. She enjoys "home brewing" her own equipment. She operates HF via an End Fed wire antenna with 9:1 UNUN which she built. She works VHF on her homemade 2 meter "J-pole". PSK-31 and operating QRP

National Sister Kate Hutton K6HTN

Morse Code has not been a problem for Kate Hutton-K6HTN. Kate, who is an ARES Morse Code Instructor, is also the recepient of the Brass Pounders League Medallion. Additionally, Kate serves as Net Control Operator for the Los Angeles Net, the Southern California Net, and for the Sixth Region Net.
Kate serves as the ARRL Traffic Manager for the Los Angeles Section and is also an ARRL Official Relay Station. Kate is active in many Amateur Radio organizations.

International Sister Heather Holland ZS6VE

Heather-ZS6VE from Johannesburg, South Africa is a lady of adventure and is active in many facets of ham radio. To say that Amateur Radio is important to Heather ( known as "Eda" to her friends), is truly an understatement....in fact it is probably safe to say that Heather owes her life to ham radio.
As this article is being written, Heather is Maritime Mobile under sail off the coast of Brazil aboard the Sy-Alkiri. Sailing is just one of Heathers adventerous activities....one which has found Heather and crewmate Jess Hawes-ZS6YOT staring death in the eyes on more than one occassion.
Twice while sailing the vessel Dalkiri the duo have had to turn to ham radio to be rescued at sea. Plucked from the ocean between Brazil and Africa.
